Basic and boring hairstyles have no business making a cameo on V-Day.
If you’ve got February 14th circled on your calendar with a big, fat red heart, then chances are you’ve got yourself a hot date. You’ve probably got a cute outfit already earmarked for the night. But what about your hair? A sexy hairstyle is the ideal complement to a hot wardrobe choice. A lackluster hairstyle is just not going to cut it for Valentine’s Day. Whether you want big and bouncy hair, beachy waves or a cute braided style, look no further than these Valentine’s Day hair ideas for a little inspo. Added bonus: Almost all of the styles can be achieved using the new HSI Groover Master Kit with 10 interchangeable curling wands.
How to get the look: After washing and blow drying hair with a large barrel round brush, spritz it with a heat-protecting spray. Twist select pieces of hair and wrap around a large barrel curling wand. Gently rake hands through hair to give a looser look. Finish off with HSI Argan Oil Leave-In Hair Treatment for extra-shiny waves.
Valentine’s Hair Style: Wavy Ends When you want to go from desk to date in a matter of minutes, this quickie hairstyle is the answer. A little twirl goes a long way.
How to get the look: Twirl ends of hair around the barrel of a one-inch curling iron. Roll the barrel up to three inches from ends of hair. Alternate the direction of the barrel for every other curl. Gently tousle with fingers and spritz a light finishing hairspray.
Romantic Hair Look: Beach Chic Hairstyle
We love the laid-back vibe of this distinctly California girl hairstyle. This look is all about creating barely-there waves with straight ends. The secret behind this style is braiding the hair.
How to get the look: Start by spritzing damp hair with a texturizing spray. Roughdry hair using a blow-dryer until it’s almost dry. Divide hair into two sections and loosely braid both sections. Continue blow-drying hair until it’s totally dry. Unbraid hair and rub a finishing serum or oil onto hair. Rake fingers through hair and finish with a spritz of medium hold hairspray. Cue the Beach Boys!
Instagram Favorite Hair Look: Effortlessly Cool
The idea here is to look as though you’ve just got out of bed—albeit looking amazingly hip. The half up/half down hair look is the epitome of cool-girl style.
How to get the look: Twist random sections of hair around curling barrel, rake hands through hair to loosen waves. Gently pull hair back at the crown, letting face-framing strands fall out. Tie back loosely with a hair tie.
Try this at Home: French Braided Bun
This look can easily transition from work to dinner. We love the young and feminine vibe a French braid plus bun gives off. Plus, you can get away with wearing this style the next day and it will still look cool.
How to get the look: Knowing how to do a French braid is key for this look. Part hair on the right side, starting at the hairline pull 2-inch sections of hair into a French braid until it goes to the left ear. At this point, the braid remainder of those pieces into a regular braid. Secure braid with a clear hairband. Take rest of the hair and put into a low ponytail, securing it with a clear elastic hairband and then pull hair through the elastic again, but not all the way through, creating a loop. At this point, you’ll have some messy strands sticking out of the loop. You can take pins and pin some of the pieces to create a somewhat haphazard yet effortlessly chic braided bun style.
