Curls, Curls, Curls!
Got curls? Lucky you. Whether you know it or not, you're the envy of all the girls out there with stick straight and rather boring hair. We totally understand that naturally straight hair means a lot less time spent worrying about frizz and checking the weather reports to see if there's even the teensiest chance of humidity. But, when you curly girls have good hair days, you look off the charts. We mean the kind of hair where people stop you in the street and ask where you had it done. Curly haired girls know that with the proper hair care products and styling tools, you can look drop dead amazing.

Curly Hair Tip: Use a Microfiber Towel to Dry
Only use bath towels on your body, not your hair. Instead, opt for a towel made with microfiber, which will be much gentler on hair than a typical terrycloth towel that has lots of little threads that cause friction against the hair and, in turn, lead to frizziness. Investing in a microfiber towel that is used just for your hair is a wise choice for curly hair types.

Curly Hair Tip: It's OK to Skip the Shampoo
You read that correctly. When you have curly hair, forgoing the shampoo and opting for the "no-poo" way of life is completely acceptable and even encouraged. Some curly haired girls only shampoo their hair a couple times a month! Curly haired types don't need to wash their hair quite as often as those with straight hair need to. We're not saying not to get it wet, but what we are suggesting is following the co-shampooing method, which means only using conditioner on hair when you get it wet. Try a conditioner that contains natural and nourishing ingredients. The new HSI Top 5 Salon Formula is the perfect product for co-shampooing. With a blend of repairing and protective oils, it's meant to be left in as a styling product, too.

Curly Hair Tip: Learn How to Manage the Frizz
Let's face the elephant in the room about curly hair--the frizz factor. While gorgeous curls can be the envy of many straight hair girls, the whole frizz thing is a real downer for those with spirals and bends in their hair. To tame your frizz and even nip bad hair days in the bud before they happen, follow these frizz taming techniques:

  • If you know that the weather conditions are going to cause frizz city, then plan ahead. Find some awesome hair accessories (we hear scrunchies are back in style!) or twist your hair into a bun or a super cool fishtail braid. The worst choice for super curly haired gals is to head into the rain with no game plan.
  • Invest in the right styling tools. The HSI Glider Plus Tourmaline Digital Flatiron outputs negative ions to help smooth hair by locking moisture into the cuticle.
  • Use a wide tooth comb on wet hair. Never brush wet hair with a boar bristle brush! But you can brush your dry hair with the boar bristle brush before you get in the shower.
  • Always make sure to spray hair with a heat protectant before blow drying it or using high heat hair tools. The HSI Argan Oil Heat Protectant  is a lightweight mist that acts as a barrier between hair and heat.
