How to get rid of Sand in your Hair
Before you head out to the beach, you probably do a lot of work with your hair. Maybe you used your ceramic iron, or maybe you went so far as to do a full treatment. One of the biggest problems that we tend to face at the beach is the water itself, along with the sun. Water can soak into your hair and make it look more frizzy, and to avoid that, you use leave in conditioner, along with a few other hair hacks, such as dampening your hair before you go to the beach. While these are a great way to keep your hair safe and smooth, there is one factor that you weren’t expecting: sand. That’s right, you forgot all about that pesky sand, spread up and down the beach, and like it or not, you’re going to get some in your hair. Sounds terrifying, doesn’t it? You might lay down on your towel to tan, or you might fall down in the surf, either way, something is going to go wrong, and after the fact, you’ll probably find yourself standing in the shower afterward, trying desperately to get rid of it. Well, we have a few techniques you can use to free your head of sand and get back that perfect aesthetic you’ve been looking for.
Shake your Hair Out – It’s More Helpful Than you Think
The first and probably the best method for clearing the sand out of your hair is to simply shake it. We would recommend that you let it dry out completely, but if you want to get the job done faster, then we’re pretty sure you have a blow dryer next to your ceramic iron, and it’s going to help you get to the end faster. After it is completely dry, flip it, shake it, and then blow dry it as you brush.
You may also want to close your eyes during this process. Keep in mind that while this is extremely effective, it might not get you the full effect, and you may definitely have some stragglers left over. If you find that your hair still has sand in it, then you might need to move on to the next step.
Break out the Shampoo and Get to Work
This is a very simple process: just shampoo your hair. Yes, that’s all you have to do, but as always, we recommend using our Argan oil infused shampoo to get not only a good result but shiny, smooth hair that you can absolutely love.
Use Baby Powder
There is ample evidence that baby powder can actually loosen the sand from your scalp, which will really help you while you’re shaking the hair. Whether or not this works well for you, will, of course, depend upon your hair type and the texture, so knows that this one might not work.
Try a Vacuum Cleaner
You might think we’re joking here, but yes, you can use a vacuum cleaner on your hair. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. We’re not saying that you need to keep a vacuum cleaner next to your 220v flat iron, we’re just saying that in cases of sand, an out of the box technique can be very useful.
The suction should draw the sand out of your head, just make sure you don’t go in more than a few inches, or you might end up with some tangles, and you don’t want to deal with that. Sand is a serious problem, but it can be overcome, and it’s definitely worth a day on the beach. As always, make sure that you are using the best hair products to care for your hair afterward.
