A Few Facts About Hair Serums
If you’re new to the concept of hair care, then hair serums might seem a bit foreign to you, and with good reason. They’re a pretty new concept, and when they first hit the market, they seemed to be a serious miracle cure. One thing that we want to say here is that there is nothing particularly wrong with serums, at least not inherently, but there are a few things that you need to consider. When you first put it in your hair, you will quickly find that your frizzy mane becomes far more manageable.
So what is it that sets serum apart from nearly any other hair product? What makes it work so well? There are a few different things at work here, actually, the first being silicon. Let’s talk about argan oil for hair or coconut oil for a moment. The thing to remember about both of those is that they penetrate their hair and give a sort of ‘all over’ treatment, whereas a hair serum uses a silicon base and only coats the surface of the hair. This makes it much more manageable, and it makes the hair reflect light quite a bit better. That being the case, hair serum has grown more and more popular over the years, obviously with good reason.
Silicon – A Popular Alternative to Argan Oil for Hair
Silicon manages to protect the hair from many outside influences, from water, all the way to dirt and dust particles. As you can see, there is a lot to like here, and at the end of the day, you need to choose what is best for your hair. This is a great way to keep your hair protected, even if it is a bit more expensive, but what are the downsides? If you’re worried about them, then you’re right: every great product has some sort of downside and with silicone, it’s a bit of a whopper.
Make Sure you Speak with a Stylist
The first thing that we want to say here, is that you will want to make sure that you’re speaking with a stylist before you use any type of hair serum. There are a lot of them out there on the market right now, but how do you know which one is going to be right for your hair? Short answer: you don’t, and if you choose the wrong one, then you’re probably going to cause some serious damage. Is there the off chance that you’ll just happen to get the right one? Absolutely, but that is a one in a million shot. Also keep in mind that if you have colored hair, there are certain products that are specifically designed for you – ask your salon if they have any in stock.
Brush it In
A common mistake when using a serum is using your fingers to spread it through your hair – this is a serious error that you need to correct. The best thing you can do is use a paddle brush to spread the serum through your hair and avoid applying it directly to the roots.
Other Considerations with Serum
There are some serum users who have found that their hair is dry after using the serum, and this only happens with certain types of hair. If, however, you are experiencing this, you should cease using the serum immediately. Keep in mind, however, that the best way to get your hair into good shape is to eat right. Fruits, water, and supplements will help you a great deal! Most importantly, make sure that you are speaking to your nutritionist. Getting the right hair definitely isn’t impossible, and the right solution is out there somewhere!
