Four Features you Want your Hair Straightener to Have

by HSI Professional | Jun 09 2017

If you’ve never purchased a hair straightener before, or if you’re in the market to try again after being burned last time (no pun intended), then you’re probably going to want a bit of a shopping list to ensure that you get exactly what you need. So, here’s a question: what features do you want yours to have? What would make your hair straightening experience exceptional? In our opinion, it boils down to exactly four things. That’s right: four. HSI Professional straightener products are exceptional when it comes to both safety and functionality, so let’s take a quick look at what you should be expecting, and what you’ll get with our products:

HSI Professional Hair Straighteners

Features you Should Expect from HSI Professional Hair Straighteners

Some of the features that we are going to list today are pretty obvious, but some of them might be completely new to you. One thing that we are certain of, is that once you start using one of our professional ceramic flat irons, or even a titanium model, you will never want to go back to the typical store brand.

Micro Sensors – A Necessity in any Professional Hair Iron

One of the biggest problems with hair straighteners, even professional models, tends to heat distribution. If you’re not terribly familiar with how hair straightening works, then, to put it mildly, you need to make sure that you have even heat distribution over every single lock of hair if you are going to properly straighten. Improper or uneven heat distribution typically ends in uneven straightening, forcing you to go over various sections again and again. This is not only inconvenient but can damage your hair. By using an iron with proper heat distribution, you are going to ensure that your hair is not burnt, that the follicles are not damaged, and that you avoid split ends.

Temperature Gauge

If your professional flat iron does not have a temperature gauge then it’s not a professional flat iron. There are many ‘drug store’ flat irons that only have a ‘low, medium, and high’ setting, and the high setting often reaches 450 degrees (unevenly distributed), which is more than most hair can even handle. The ability to regulate temperature as you see fit is a great asset to you and it will help you to get the hair you want, every single time.

Proper Plates

Along with heat sensors, we cannot recommend enough making sure that you have proper plates rather than the typical metal you would have from a low-end straightener. The problem with these is that they have no properties to ensure that the hair is handled correctly. Ceramic, for example, is strongly recommended for lighter, thinner hair, while Titanium is recommended for course hair. You may also consider going for a straightener that features moving plates to achieve a better curl if curls are what you’re going for.

Auto Shut Off

This is a feature that every single straightener needs to have, but there are some that lack it. Back in the day, you would often hear something along the lines of “Turn the car around, I think I left the curling iron on”. It might be the butt of a joke sometimes, but honestly, it’s not funny. Auto shut-off allows you to use your iron worry-free, and if you happen to forget to turn it off before you leave the house, it will simply deactivate all on its own. This along makes these types of irons some of the safest on the market.

As you can see, there are several different features that you’re going to want to be looking for when you’re in the market for a good flat iron, and we cannot recommend enough our Glider Elite, which encompasses all of the features that we have mentioned above. Don’t lend the care and maintenance of your hair to untrustworthy brands – use HSI Professional products and flat irons. It’s the best way to get the hair you want this summer.
