Putting Together the Ultimate Travel Kit Starting with your 220v Flat Iron
You might not be traveling right now but if you’re like most people, then you certainly will in the future. With that being the case, you’re going to need to make sure that you have a good hair care kit, starting with a 220v flat iron. Having the flat iron is one thing, however, and making sure that you have all of the other necessary components for care is quite essential. So what do you need in your hair care kit other than a ceramic iron?
Well, we have a pretty decent list of items, so next time you go shopping, make sure you grab a few of these. Remember, it all starts with a good flat iron, though there are some individuals who would rather use a straightening brush to gain a better effect. It’s up to you, but make sure that you at least have the following items ready to go the next time you have a hair emergency while you’re on the move.
Hair Clips – Essential for the 220v Flat Iron
Styling your hair to actually look good requires a bit of work and you’re going to need a good set of clips so that you can section it off and create partitions for styling. One of the biggest mistakes that people make is trying to simply grab clumps of their own hair in an effort to straighten and from experience we can tell you that this is a terrible idea. The more optimum method would be to use heat-resistant clips to separate the different hair sections and make sure you get everything.
Heat Resistant Combs
Before you can straighten your hair properly you’re going to going to need to work the kinks out of it, so that you don’t end up with a heated clump of hair, and you will most definitely want to comb your hair while you’re doing the straightening. It is important for you to make sure that you’re using a heat resistant comb so that you can work out those kinks while you’re using the flat iron. If you use the wrong type of comb, you may end up with a melted clump of plastic in your hair.
We’re going to go out on a limb here and say you don’t want that. In addition to going with a heat resistant comb, do make sure that you choose a durable one, because lighter combs tend to end up with broken teeth, making them almost useless. Please remember that combs have two sides, one with large teeth, and one with small, and we strongly recommend going with the small teeth while you are straightening so that you can gain more precise control of your hair.
Heat Protectant for your Hair
A serious problem that most people will encounter when they are straightening their hair with a flat iron or straightening brush is that they fail to use heat protectant. Honestly, most of the time, when you purchase a flat iron it doesn’t TELL you to use heat protectant, so if you are new to straightening in this way, you might actually be pretty oblivious to the entire concept. Heat protectant will keep the straightener from destroying your hair follicles, and we have to be perfectly honest, we’ve seen some pretty serious destruction that would make even the most experienced hair dresser start to cringe.
Serum
After you straighten your hair we strongly recommend having some type of serum on hand to make sure that your hair looks great afterward. Usually, a leave-in conditioner is suggested, but we tend to lean more toward the direction of Coconut Milk which gives you the shine that you’ve been wanting while ensuring that your hair is silky smooth. As for a particular brand, well, that’s going to be entirely up to you in the long run. There are many out there and the right one really depends on the person that is using it. These are just a few things that you might need to carry in your travel bag, and you will undoubtedly find more as you go along. Make sure you invest in a good travel bag – we strongly suggest using a nylon carrying case for this! There are some people who prefer the hard case, but we find that is less than flexible and doesn’t fit well into a travel compartment, especially if you’re traveling by air. Start building your travel kit today and understand that you’re going to have to invest some serious money to get the kit you want. It might take some work and some trial and error for you to find the right products but in the end, it will be completely worth it, and you’ll be ready to straighten your hair anywhere with the products that will serve to make it look outstanding for the foreseeable future.
