Should you Brush your Hair When it’s Wet?
When you first step out of the shower there is a good chance you’re feeling as if you need to brush your hair, especially if you use a lot of products. If you feel like you have a huge tangle, you probably want to reach for that brush right away, and if you’re like everyone else, it’s probably within reach. Well, yes, we agree that tangles are no fun, but here’s the big question: should you be brushing your hair while it’s wet? As it turns out, you probably shouldn’t, because your hair is at its weakest when it’s wet. Imagine that. We’ve probably put some fear into you, and your big question right now, is what are your options? What are you supposed to do if you can’t brush your hair? You have to do something, right? Well, you do have a few options, the first one, of course, being to do absolutely nothing. You could let your hair dry, or you could speed up the process with a hair dryer. Here’s the problem: most of us can’t wait that long. We sit there letting those tangles bug us endlessly until finally we give in and feel horrible about ourselves for the next few days. Okay, maybe it’s not that extreme, but there are definitely similar long term consequences. You know, grief, shame, self-hatred… The second option would be to simply use your fingers. It might cause a LITTLE bit of breakage, we’re not going to lie, but it won’t be quite as bad – not by a long shot. You can detangle without causing damage on a massive scale, and it will ultimately help you to feel better. Most importantly, it’s going to help you get rid of that nagging feeling at the bag of your skull.
Finally, you could simply use a detangler, as that will help to get rid of the problem without much intervention from you. It’s an extra step but much better than the alternative, to say the least. One of the most important things we can say, in addition to that, is that you need to make sure that your hair remains healthy and strong. This means using the best shampoo, the best conditioner, and most importantly an argan oil leave in treatment. Constant and obsessive care over your mane will keep it in good condition, whether you give in to the urge to brush it after your shower, or not.
